GOOD ADVICE FOR SAVING MONEY

Do you wish to save money on your next bus ride? Then read our advice for costumers down below.

BUS STANDARD

First of all, you have to make it clear, what kind of bus you wish. Do you want the fancy bus with leather seats or can you settle for a lower quality bus and thereby a lower price? Make this clear from the first request, so that we can help you to find the perfect company.

STAY WITHIN THE DRIVE/REST TIME RULES

If your bus trip is longer than the drive/rest interval, then the bus company have to put two drivers on the task, which will increase the cost. The rules can seem pretty complicated and confusing. The most important things you’ll have to know about this is as followed:

  • 1. The driver’s uninterrupted running time can’t exceed 4,5 hours. Therefore, it can be necessary to place some pauses on your route, if you have to drive longer than that.
  • 2. The daily running time can’t exceed 10 hours with only 1 driver.
  • 3. Within 24 hours the driver has to have 11 hours of uninterrupted rest, which means that the ride can’t exceed 15 hours a day with only 1 driver.

PLACE YOUR RIDE OUTSIDE OF WEEKENDS AND RUSH HOURS

Some bus companies will change their prices depended on what time the ride takes place. The reasoning behind this price increase in the weekends is, that the demand for bus rides are much higher here. The reason why the price can be higher during rush hours is because it could take longer time from A to B. This, however, is only present in Copenhagen.

VISIT BORDER SHOPS

It might sound weird that you have to stop and shop in the border shops to reach a cheaper price. However, many bus companies get a provision from the border shops, and it could therefore make the trip cheaper for you. That is of course, only if you shop.

AVOID PAYING FOR BRIDGE TARIFFS

If it is possible to avoid driving over the Storebælt- and Øresund bridge, there is money to be saved. It cost approximately 1000 kr. for an ordinary 50-person tourist bus to pass these bridges. The price will therefore increase by 2000 kr. as soon as you choose to cross Storebælt. Remember, that even though you only have to cross the bridge once, the company has to go back the same way.
